Club Information, In Brief
To begin with, Preston North End was the first team to win the Football League. Furthermore, PNE were the first football team to win the FA Cup. Therefore, Preston were the first team to complete the ‘double’. They went on to win the league title again. Also they won the FA Cup again and were runners up on many other occasions in both competitions. However, those were the glory days and the club has not done too well in recent years.
Preston play at Deepdale which indeed they have done since 1978 and it now has a capacity of 23,404. With so much history, the crowd can produce a wonderful atmosphere when the stadium is full. They play their home games in white and blue of course.
Obviously, they have Blackpool as rivals. But on a local level, Burnley, Blackburn Rovers, Bolton Wanderers and Wigan Athletic are all rivals. Indeed, Preston’s nicknames are, The Lilywhites and The Invincibles. Finally, the club came into existence in 1880.
