Club Information, In Brief
To begin with, Stevenage F.C. is a relative baby in terms of professional football clubs. Indeed, when the town’s original football club went out of existence, Stevenage Borough Football Club came about in 1976. Moreover, the club won the Conference National League in 1996. But, could not join the EFL because the ground didn’t come up to scratch. However, they won the league again in 2010 and promotion was possible this time due to stadium improvements. In fact, once promotion came about, the club took ‘Borough’ from their name. Stevenage play their home games in a a red and white strip at their Broadhall Way stadium. Indeed, the capacity of the ground is a respectable 6,722 and the atmosphere is a friendly and welcoming one.
Although Stevenage have a short history, they have many honours and achievements. For example, they won the Conference National twice as we see above. Also, they won the FA Trophy in 2007 and 2009. Indeed, Stevenage won the Isthmian Leagues, taking them by storm. Above all, Stevenage have played in England’s third tier, currently League One, phew!
Rival’s of Stevenage include Peterborough United, Woking, Luton Town, Barnet also Milton Keynes Dons. Finally, Stevenage’s nickname is The Boro. Obviously this is a reference to when they had the name Stevenage Borough Football Club.
